Startup, and then what? part 2

cici is backkk!!! hahaha
maapin aja ya pemirsa, namapun blogger amacirrr, nulis yang kalo pingin ajah hahaha.
okeh, mari jeung sis, lanzuttt...

Q:
lepas 5 tahun, udah aman dong?
A:
yaaa, kalo bisnis nya going well, secara income sih aman.
dalam arti kata, kalo mau gajian udah gak deg degan lagi, ada uang atau engga,
mau bayar vendor, mau bayar listrik, mau bayar internet... yaudah tinggal bayar aja.

dalam arti kata, udah gak deg degan, warung akan sepi banget dalam 1 hari gak ada yang dateng,
karena orang udah regularly dateng terus. dan itu cukup untuk biaya operational kita,
dan profit yang lumayan udah di tangan lah. kalo cuma mau beli lipen purbasari baru mah, bisaaa!

di tahun ke-5, produk portfolio udah semakin banyak, udah bisa cukup umbar umbar lah,
dan orang juga udah mulai percaya, kalo cici emang bisa jalanin bisnis,
buktinya? tuh warungnya tambah rame aja kayanya...
dan most of all, gak bangkrut ni warung setelah 5 tahun. dan keliatan banget progress nya,
mutu makanan tetep sama, tapi skarang tempat diperlebar, biar pengunjung tambah betah,
tempat duduknya dikasi busa biar agak empuk, dikasih playground juga.

year 5 is the part where you can say to yourself: oh phew, look what i've become! alhamdulilah.
tapi jangan keburu seneng dulu sis, karna idup seneng seneng doang mah adanya di surga nanti...
*bumimut resek sukanya bikin drop hahaha*

do remember that business can't go on autopilot. well, technically it can,
but on whole different level, se level pak CT lah, i won't talk about right here right now.
if you're done with the struggle for your own breath, and having a smooth the operation,
do remember, that there are lots (i mean lots and lots and lots of) things to be taken care about.
things that are so common in the bigger enterprise, but so distance for small enterprises.

Q:
emang harus mikirin apa sih? kok jadi tegang akikeus?
A:
hal hal sepertiii... sistem sistem an.
sistem kerja antar divisi, SOP, sistem penilaian pegawai, terus sistem pajak, financial engineering,
serta konco dan kroni kroninya... HIII SEREMMM *tutup mata*

iya emang serem, tapi balik lagi aja: 
mau berkembang ngga? mau berkembangnya tergorganisir ngga?
kalo jawab mau dua kali, then welcome to the jungle!

Q:
terus apa duluan yang musti banget dipikirin?
A:
tergantung, menurut jeng sis apaan yang paling penting.
kalo cici, manage your product.
pertama sistem untuk jagain kualitas produk. because good product is the starting line.
gimana caranya supaya produk tu konsisten rasa enaknya.

nah, karna rahasia nya ada di ulenan terigu, maka cici buat lah sebuah sistem ngulen terigu.
bikin lah aturan yang mudah dimengerti sama pegawai yang tugasnya ngulen, misalnya seperti:
kalo ngulen musti setelah jam 5 subuh, tapi sebelum ayam berkokok, 10 jari jari harus ikut bergerak,
air yang dipakai harus diambil dari mata air yang dipakai mandi gadis perawan. something like that.
jadiii, mau si anteng, si bebel, atau si cihuy yang bikin adonan mie, rasanya akan tetep sama. konsisten.

sama kan sama parenting, consistency holds the key. because people love consistency,
aneh kan kalo makan sekali di warung, wow enak, hepi banget!!! 
terus besoknya makan lagi disitu, ngajak papi mertua, eh kok jadi ga enak,
duhhh, jadi malu kan, ngajakin makan mau traktir tapi malah gagal total. 
eh besoknya coba lagi maksi sama temen temen, lha, enak lagi hahaha... kzl...

be the master of your own product, kuasai betul betul spesifikasinya,
be very sharp about your product, go deep with it, so you know everything about it,
i don't wanna scare people by saying: product consistency is so dam* hard to maintain!!!
but it's what happened, really hahaha... dan sayangnya, it's the spear head of the business.

but worry not, keeping ourselves alert will guard the business just fine. lama lama pasti terbiasa,
ibarat kata ni, si cici mah bisa tau, kalo ternyata yang tugas ngulen terigu cuma pake 9 jari,
berasa ama doi, kenyel mie nya kok beda!
when you know what's wrong with it, of course you can fix it.

Q:
yang kedua?
A:
manage your financial health.
meskipun cici anak marketing dan social sciences, dan kuping rasanya gatel kalo denger neraca,
tapi yaaa gimana ya, terpaksa juga ni convert. uhuk.
atur atur investasi supaya bisa jadi passive income, lumayan untuk nambah nambahin duit.
atur atur cashflow supaya ngga boncos kebanyakan nalangin vendor, tapi klien blum bayaar,
atur atur mau outing kemana yang efeknya refreshing tanpa ngabisin terlalu banyak usd
ih gila gaya banget warung bakmi outbond ke disneyland CA hahaha.
things like that.

biasakan punya financial documents yang bagus from day 1, meskipun urdu minta ampun,
do it. because it will become a habit. dan asik aja, kalo punya track perjalanan bisnis nya.
ketika company makin besar, financial health nya juga makin ribet,
do ask for a help, if you're overwhelmed. gausah ragu ragu...
karna cici musti mikirin hal hal penting yang lainnya lagi, selain balance nya neraca.
don't waste your time in one thing you know you won't be able to do dam* well,
splurge your energy on things that you're most good at, biar effort nya maksimal.

Q:
yang ketiga?
A:
manage your people.
apalagi kalo di bisnis service, your people, is your gold. treat them like one...
emang si gak bisa serta merta di pamper juga, ini kan dunia kerja ya, enak aja lu pamper pamper!
tetep musti tarik ulur. karna kadang kadang pimpinan perlu juga muka asem & suara nyinyir,
biar pada takut! hihihi... gak deinggg... 

biar pada tau aja, that i started my career from the very bottom of the industry food chain, 
i know stuff, i know stuff-damn well. sampe printil printil nya gue tau, so don't lie to me.
i'd know if you didn't put enough effort on this task. and when you're wrong, you're wrong. 
"i dont appreciate this, please fix it."

but when you're right, i'll pat your back and i'll speak highly about you. you deserve it.
ngga susah juga sebenernya managing people... berhubung cici ni mantan pegawai yah,
simple things like treating your people nicely, with enough appreciation and respect, will be fine.
tentu saja dengan financial improvement sesuai prestasi ya...
pait loh kalo kerja 4 taun cuma naik gaji 1 kali, dan gak ada performance review *ih curhat*
when people love your company, they will be happy. and you know what, happiness is a currency.

Q:
terus, cari darimana tu ilmu ilmu gitu? masa harus ngelmu ke gunung kawi?
A:
if you have to... hahaha, gih, cici sih malezzz bangetttzzz...
kalo duitnya gak berseri sih, hire consultant hahaha, beres deh semuanya.

but if you're like me, growing you company organically, you rely on your connection to people.
you find allies, partners, friends, mentors, someone who knows better than you, in anything.
gausah gengsi, gausah takut, gausah malu kalo pertanyaannya cukup bego seperti:
SHU tu kapan si dibagiin nya? terus pemegang saham dapet jatah berapa?

work together with them, chat with them, ask around, learn, watch and then do it.
gausah shy shy cat kalo mau nanya, nanya ajahhh... ngga ada kok orang hebat yang pelit sama ilmu,
kalo pelit sama duit-mungkin hahaha.
when your bucket is half full, see if their suggestions are do-able and fit well in your company.
if not, switch it, adjust it, make it work. do trial and error.
kalo gagal, coba cara lain, tanya orang lain lagi, try different method,
until you find the perfect fit for your business.

Q:
taun ke 7, apa yang paling susah?
A:
i would have to say: keeping your chin down.
karna udah 'merasa' company nya berhasil idup sampe hari ini, namanya manusia ya, ada jumawa.
nah untungnya Tuhan Maha Baik sama gue, selaluuu selalu dan selalu aja ngingetin...
ngingetin supaya gue gak terlalu hepi sama achievement duniawi, supaya selalu inget,
semuanya itu punya Allah. kalo mau diminta balik, atau di twist, yaudah, harus iklas.

ketika dikittt aja merasa 'settle' dengan company, DARRR tiba tiba ada client complain,
dan cukup major, sampe kocar kacir lah semuanya... cici kebakaran jenggot deh rasanya.
lohhh, ini sebenernya cici atau koko sih??? kok jenggotan.

ketika dikittt aja PD sama achievement taun ini, DARRR economic downturn,
yang mau ngga mau menyambut selamat datang cipika cipiki aja gitu. *sigh*

emang si idup kaya gak tenang, bentar bentar krisis, bentar bentar krisis,
tenang sebentar, terus huru hara lagi. projek adem dikit, terus kusut lagi. zzz banget...
kadang gue sampe mikir: akuteh bumimut atau olivia pope sih? kzl bgtz.

tapi ya emang gitu... elon bilang, entrepreneur should have high pain treshold hahaha!
itu bener banget, ambang sakit nya musti tinggi, jangan baper, gausah dirasa rasa...
udah jalanin aja terus. get rich or die tryin!

the business expansion will bring more headache to your head, the journey will even be harder,
life will hit you hard on your face, it will rip your heart apart, and leaving you sleepless at midnights.
guess what, be brave. take the beating.
when you fall, get up, put on some good fight.
it will haunt your days and keep you away from sleeping at night, bare with it, work on it.

but the joy.
oh the pride and the joy. menurut cici, it's what it worth.
selain klien yang hepi, ahirnya pesen pesen terus, dan jadi langganan... the ultimate joy balik lagi, knowing ada beberapa dapur yang udah berhasil di kebulin bukan dikibulin ya.
ada rasa bahagia, yang kalo dipikirin, terus happy factor nya diitung pake metode turus,
bisa bikin mbrebes mili. aslikkk...
ada rasa bangga, udah bisa bawa pulang rejeki segitu banyak, from all the hardwork.
ada rasa sayang, to all the people you work with, you struggle on with, walopun tiap ari sewot sewotan.
it's a blessing, betapa Tuhan kasih kita tenaga, pikiran, upaya untuk bisa berguna untuk orang lain.

ah jadi mbrebes mili deh cici, padahal gak pegang bombay.
udah yah, ada pertanyaan lagi gak jeungsis dan masbro?
cici jalan mundur duluyah *moonwalk*
